Mike aka Hollywood’s Ultimate Insider., kindly answered our questions about NPH’s fame and what lies behind its continued success. The entertainment expert also explained why other celebrities shouldn’t necessarily be “competing” with NPH on Halloween. Instead, it’s all about the fun!

“Neil Patrick Harris and his family always come up with creative and unique Halloween costumes. Fans can’t wait to see what they come up with. Plus, the cuteness factor for kids is almost off the charts,” the Los Angeles-based celebrity expert told Bored Panda.

“NPH is a multi-talented performer whose talents span decades. Not only does he have talent, but he has the charm, charisma and likability to make us comfortable and want to be around,” Mike told Bored Panda that NPS is “just a guy you want to hang out with.”

“Know that other celebrities will have a hard time competing with someone like NPH for a Halloween costume. He’s one of the few celebrities who has a ‘lock’ on Halloween, so there’s really no point in competing,” he shared.

“My suggestion is to just choose a suit that suits you, that you find interesting, original and fun. Let your celebrity status come true and don’t even worry about competing with another celebrity.

At the time of writing, NPH’s Instagram post had almost 597k followers. Meanwhile, Burtka’s behind-the-scenes photos received almost 60.5 thousand views. But the real win is not all (especially impressive) likes, views and engagement. It’s the smiles that photos bring to people’s faces.

Social media users from all over the world loved the theme, as well as how the family posed on a brown leather couch. NPH perfectly embodies how many of us feel after we’ve just eaten waaaaay too much junk food. And Burtka is literally us after any major meal.

NPH tagged his post “Happy Halloween from the BOOrtka-Harris Family” and we’re giving a virtual thumbs up to bring back the pun we all know and love. Meanwhile, Burtka wrote: “Fake or meat!! Here is our family Halloween photo, age 11! I hope “da da dat da daaaaa you love it”.

A couple of Halloween events ago, Bored Panda spoke with Lenore Skenazy, president of childhood independence nonprofit Let Grow and founder of the Free-Range Kids movement, about healthy family traditions. She told us that dressing up for Halloween can be a “great tradition,” whether the whole family does it together or just the kids.

“After a couple of generations, it becomes a ‘thing’—like leaving stuffed grape leaves for Santa instead of cookies: it’s your particular (even kind of) family holiday.” Children will remember it almost forever and may even pass it on to the next generation,” she shared.

According to Lenore, the family can choose what they all like and create Halloween costumes based on the theme. It can be almost anything, whether it’s a movie, a beloved pet, or a memorable vacation. But as time goes on and your children grow into teenagers, it can become more difficult to maintain these healthy family traditions.

“You connect to that time, place, or thing you love, but you also connect to your family because you’re all together. The kids will love it…until at some point they don’t. (Not many young people want to be decorated with fish, although you all enjoyed your holiday at the lake in 2012.) Never mind. Take pictures now and in the future, maybe they’ll look back and cringe, maybe they’ll cry. As Carly Simon sang, “These are the good old days.” Enjoy them.”
