NYCFC 2022 regular season schedule announced

New York City FC has released the schedule for the 2022 regular season. The season kicks off in February to host the FIFA World Cup finals, which take place in Qatar from November 21 to December 18. This is the first start to the season in MLS history.

For NYCFC devotees, there is good news, more good news, and boring news.

First of all, the good news: this is the most lucid and homogeneous program in the history of the club. There’s no game accumulation, no three-game home series in a tropical August week. Instead, most games will take place on weekends – only one midweek home game will be played this season.

The best news? It is also the most rational program in memory: each team in the Eastern Conference will face each other twice, once at home and once away. The rest of the NYCFC schedule features tantalizing clashes with Western Conference heavyweights, starting with the Los Angeles galaxy on the opening day. NYCFC will face some of the Colorado Rapids, Minnesota united, Real salt lake, Kansas City Sports, and the Vancouver Whitecaps, who all made the 2021 MLS Cup qualifiers.

Now the bad news: While most NYCFC home games will be at Yankee Stadium, a handful will be at Citi Field, and the August game against the expanding Charlotte Football Club will be at Red Bull Arena. . Boo.

On the one hand, the NYCFC schedule promises to be precise and professional. On the other hand, the Airbnb club is making its way into the greater metropolitan area.
