The tallest building in the EU has been completed in Warsaw, Poland

Looking for the highest city views in Europe? Well, there’s a new record-breaking skyscraper in town. A 310 meter high structure recently opened in the Polish capital of Warsaw it’s now officially the tallest building in the EU – and it has an observation deck that you can actually visit.

The building is called the Varso Tower and is located in the very center of the city, on the corner of Jana Pawla II and Chmielna Street. Built by a renowned architectural firm Foster and his partnersthe Varso is designed to house a mix of office and commercial space.

The all-important Varso observation deck sits 230 meters above street level on the 53rd floor, which is also the highest inhabited floor of the tower. Level 49 will apparently also soon have a landscaped terrace bar which will become the highest garden in Warsaw.

Now you may have noticed that we specifically described the Varso as the tallest building in the EU and do not the largest in Europe overall. Thanks to skyscrapers in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the Varso is the sixth tallest structure on the continent, a title previously held by the Shard in London. The Varso is only one foot taller than the Shard.

If you are looking for the tallest building in Europe, it will be the Lakhta Center in Saint Petersburg, which rises to 462 meters. The Lakhta also has a visitable observation deck, though for obvious reasons Russia might not be high on your monthly travel list.

All the more reason to head to the Varso Tower in Warsaw! Learn more about visiting the observation deck here and get ready to see Warsaw like you’ve never seen it before.
