Minneapolis in 2023: a year of new restaurants and bars, artistic anniversaries and a chic new airport lounge.

  1. Indigenous Food Lab Market will join the Midtown Global Market on Lake Street in February, serving an Indigenous menu at the hot meals bar, as well as a tea bar with a specialist in herbs and other items from the Indigenous market from the owners of the James Beard Best New Restaurant 2022, Owamni.

  2. Minneapolis-St. Paul international airport (MSP), a Delta hub that was Named Top Airport in the Nation by JD Power for Customer Satisfaction in 2022, will open its third Delta Sky Club in 2023 in the renovated Concourse G. The multi-level Sky Club will feature a four-season outdoor terrace and set a new benchmark for Delta lounges. Concourse G’s 50,000 square foot expansion includes a two-story rotunda, retail spaces, more seating and art exhibit space.

  3. Northern Social Spirits will open a new “spiritual successor” to its former cocktail hall in a newly renovated Coliseum building on East Lake Street that is in tandem with an incubator that supports BIPOC entrepreneurs. North’s the original and famous cocktail hall was closed after damage following the death of George Floyd in 2020. As the first black distillery in the countryowner Chris Montana took the opportunity to create a foundation that tackles racial inequality and strengthens economic justice in the Minneapolis and St. Paul Region.

The Great North Party returns with its annual “Keep the North Cold” celebration that includes the U.S. Pond Hockey Championships, St. Paul’s Winter Carnival, City of Lakes Loppet Cross-Country Ski Festival and more than 50 artistic, cultural and climatic events for visitors to participate from January 25February 5. Eat Street crossing Whittier Food Hall – from the owners of Zen Box Izakaya and Baby Zito ice cream — will occupy a space on rue Eat of the same name (avenue Nicollet) in South Minneapolis with a casual ramen bar, Shoten Ramen, At Bebe Zito’s signature ice cream, burgers and fried chicken, bubble tea from ChaTime and a bar and wine wall.

  10. Lola is on the lake and Jamaican cuisine Pimento will open in the new minneapolis parks and recreation flag on Bde Maka Ska (formerly known as Lake Calhoun) in the summer of 2023.
