Airbnb launches host-friendly program for apartment renters in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Airbnb announced on Wednesday the launch of a program that will allow potential tenants to search for customer-friendly apartments in the Phoenix area.

The Airbnb-Friendly apartment program provides tools for people interested in hosting a spare room, including the ability to browse different apartments at different prices and locations, according to a press release.

“Airbnb was founded during the Great Recession when Brian and Joe needed help paying their rent, and now Airbnb-friendly apartments build on that founding story by making it easier for people to reap the economic benefits of living. ‘hosting,’ Nathan Blecharzyck, co-founder and chief strategy officer, said in the statement.

“As the cost of living continues to rise, renters can use the extra income generated from part-time accommodation on Airbnb to contribute to their rent, save for a home, or pay for other living expenses.”

Other resources on the site include access to building management login, access to Airbnb setup, and an income calculator to determine how much money a renter could make hosting part-time.

Buildings will have custom community rules for housing, such as the number of nights tenants can host each year.

The new program was created to allow tenants to earn income by sharing their home and for those whose tenancy terms or building regulations prevent them from hosting part-time, the statement said.

Those interested in renting in the valley can online visit for more information and tools.
