Airbnb warns Phoenix guests not to host parties
Airbnb is warning hosts and guests that even though Arizona’s restrictions to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus are lifted, the company won’t let you rent properties to host parties in the state — and will contact police if you do it.
“While Governor Ducey’s revised executive order opened up parts of the state, it also clarified that social distancing remains in effect,” Airbnb said in a statement Monday. “Our new policy means that we are not allowing any type of party in Phoenix until further notice.”
The holiday accommodation company also said in the statement that it would work with law enforcement to enforce the measures.
“Not only will we prohibit guests who attempt to host an unauthorized party in a Phoenix Airbnb listing, but we will cooperate with Phoenix police in any investigation of parties and violations of public health warrants, in accordance with our Terms of Service. ‘use,’ the news said. statement said.
The company enforced the policy by temporarily disabling its “event-friendly” search filter, which customers use to find hosts who allow parties. They also continued to temporarily remove the “parties and events allowed” rule from each Phoenix roster’s house rules that previously allowed them, according to the statement.
Free cancellations until June 15
Airbnb also announced on Friday that it has extended its policy that allows hosts and guests to cancel reservations with penalties.
The company’s “extenuating circumstances” policy, which allowed hosts and guests who booked reservations on or before March 14 for check-ins through May 31 to cancel without penalty, will also extend to reservations between March 1 June and June 15.
Under this policy, customers may receive a travel credit or cash refund, including all charges.
