New name unveiled for Bismarck’s Ramkota Hotel

You may have heard in March that the hotel had been sold. It looks like the new owners are also making some big changes.

If you don’t know:

The hotel was built in 1974 and since then it has been a popular stay for many foreigners. Conferences, meetings, trade shows, exhibitions, and tons of other events are held at the hotel all the time. The hotel is in downtown Bismarck, across from the Kirkwood Mall, making it easy to access food and entertainment.

The new name:

Cut to the essentials: an announcement has been made to the hotel management Facebook page on Tuesday, May 24, by renaming the establishment “Bismarck Hotel and Conference Center”.

A little history :

You may not know it, but according to BismarckCafe.com, before being known as “The Ramkota”, the hotel was called “The Kirkwood Motor Inn”. Sometime after that the name changed to the “Radisson Inn” and then back to “Ramkota”. Interesting, right? !

BismarckCafe.com also says that it was the Wachter family who developed the hotel in the early 70s. At the time, the price was around $4.25 million. I’m sure today would be a bit more. According to siteat the time of construction it was only the third hotel and banquet hall in the town of Bismarck.

And after?

I can only imagine this is the first of many other changes the new owners are planning to make to the hotel. I’m not sure what’s next, but we can’t wait to find out.
