A stone’s throw from the castle ofAnet (Eure-et-Loir)architect’s masterpiece Philibert Delorme to pay Diana of PoitiersAlexandre Valéry is following in the footsteps he has traveled many times for the genesis of his first work.

With Remember, he signs a Romanesque work but which takes place in a very large number of authentic facts of the History of France. So fiction and reality intertwine with, in common thread, a secret buried for centuries from Diane de Poitiers to Lady Di Passing by Grace Kelly to the fatal destinies, and the most great puzzles centuries past!

Famous family feathers

Great-grandson of Paul Valerynever seen Jean-Marie Rouart… Alexandre Valéry enjoys the “pressure” that weighs on his shoulders with his first book. But to quickly let go when you return to the universe he imagined or discovered… the thread is sometimes tenuous.

Coming from a literary preparation at the Henri-IV and Fénelon high schools in Paris, he continued singularly towards HEC.

But his DNA is history and literature which it allows to combine with this commercial training by working in sponsorship with in particular fundraising for the Unterlinden Museum from Colmar (Haut-Rhin). In the same spirit, he takes care of raising funds for the restoration of the masterpiece of this place, the Isenheim Altarpiece.

It then continues with another museum, that of air and space at Le Bourget where he is in charge of the rental of event spaces for cinema, congresses… A mix between art and business where he finds his career.

Between the lines, Alexandre Valéry always returns to his passions for history and literature and tirelessly surveys the Château d’Anet, which strikes a chord with him.

The Princess of Cleves by Madame de La Fayette is one of his favorite books, a work that inaugurates the tradition of the analytical or psychological novel in the sense that it aims to be realistic and is based on a construction supported by proven facts. An axis that will retain the author.

He is also an avid reader ofAlexandre Dumas “who dreamed of writing about Diane de Poitiers”.

Alexandre Valéry opted for fiction, but indeed a realistic fiction that takes the reader on a whirlwind!

The Poison Affair, the Queen’s Necklace, the Iron Mask…

The author reveals a secret whose Diane de Poitiers would have been depositary and which crossed the centuries having an influence from the conspiracy of Amboise to the massacre of Saint-Barthélémy, from Nicolas Fouquet to the Affair of the poisons, from the Venus of Arles to the necklace of the queen through the Iron Mask…

To arrive at Lady Diana and Grace of Monaco who, on this day in 1981, at Buckingham Palace, receive a strange note mentioning only REMEMBER… The preamble to a dizzying enigma.

Because by untangling the skein of his novel, Alexandre Valéry himself embarked on a real epic that never ceased to surprise him.

The tomb of Diana, enigmatic

Here he is, for example, examining the tomb of the Princess of Wales at the Spencer family’s Althorp estate “which is on an island with a basin in the shape of a crescent like Diane de Poitiers”.

UN family chart at the Spencers represents Diana the Huntress and there is a psalm that she liked to sing Henry II hunting “there is a strong probability that he comes from Anet. From Diana to Diana, the princess had a special connection with this painting”.

And in the same approach, the author evokes Grace Kelly who became Grace of Monaco by marrying Prince Rainier III:

By marrying Rainier of Monaco she became Duchess of Valentinois, a title held by the Grimaldis and which Diane de Poitiers had also obtained from Henri II…

Grace Kelly was a very great Hollywood actress like Lana Turner becomes the star of David Miller’s film Diana of Poitiers with Roger Moore starting out.

A Roger Moore who would later become famous for his portrayal of secret agent 007, james bond. As Sean Connery including the opening scene ofOperation Thunder was filmed… at the Château d’Anet, a masterpiece of Renaissance.

In this remarkable setting unveiled by the Hollywood blockbuster, the writer examines tapestries woven for Diane de Poitiers at the request of Henri II and which can be found today in particular in the museums of Rouen, Ecouen or the Metropolitan in New York.

These tapestries were acquired by the Grillos of Genoa in the 18th century where they deposited their own emblems in place of crescent Moons or H2D.

It was also this De Grille family who settled in Arles and who imported the famous Venus to Louis XIV. I made a connection between these elements where I see that the sovereign would have discovered a secret buried in these tapestries.

The author unrolls, unrolls… until Stéphanie de Monaco and her tube like a hurricane… A title whose lyrics would not be so trivial as that.

Lady Diana is buried on an island in the middle of a lake, a reference to Diana on the island of Delos and this basin called “the oval” is also one of the symbols of Diane de Poitiers where she took her own baths .

An approach which, in the eyes of the author, goes well beyond the “decorative follies” that dotted the large parks of the castles, references to antiquity.

Remember represents about two years of work and research for the writer who does not hide the fact that he had a lot of fun punctuating his epic with quantities of small pebbles… “and It holds up historically.. You can really discover the history of this fabulous Château d’Anet, of all its owners and of this secret that would have activated the story… Everything is connected, everything fits together! »

A way also to revisit with an investigator’s gaze these places so loaded with symbols where the figure of Diana is omnipresent, between the crescents, the H2Ds, the chimney caps in cenotaphs, not to mention the attributes of the goddess of the hunt or geometric shapes that dot the place.

It’s up to you to let yourself be taken in by this alchemy.
